IT SURE IS NOT THE WONDERFUL PLACE, IT USED TO BE,GONE ARE THE DAYS THAT fRIDAY WE LOOKED SO FORWARD TO GOING TO DINNER, NOT ANYMORE,BACK TO Halifax to enjoy a speial meal, YOURS TRULY.Margaret Hartley,
I visited with a Entertainment book coupon and ordered the special which was approx 19.99 each. The entre was chicken breast with a stir fry. When the meal arrived my wife and I looked at each other and stated Where is the chicken? We both commented this to the waiter when he returned to ask how was your meal? The waiter's answer to our question was Do you want anything else!. We declined. After we paid for our meal, I reread the sign in the lobby which outlined the special and the sign clearly stated that there was a chicken breast accompanying the entre. I asked the front desk clerk who the manager was and she stated Well there goes the owner. So I approached the owner and outlined my experience at his restaurant. After a quick tour of the kitchen and after the owner showing me the portion size of the chicken breast - the owner emphatically stated that all diners were given that portion of chicken breast!. I continued to state that our meals did not include both portions and continued to enfasise that the portion that we received was at most a single portion. His final response was perhaps if I spent more money then I would be a larger meal. Final thought Run don't walk from this restaurant!
Had the worst meal /service experience of my life there...First off we had made reservations at 9 pm for a New years Eve Supper... We were a group of 15 that had reserved. We didn't get in there until 1030 after having to wait an hour and a half at the bar after the last table that had been booked for the 630 seating...When we got in our waitress immediately informed us that she would be back in a bit as she had to go and serve the other diners their dessert...So we waited another 20 minutes with no bread, wine or drinks so by this time it was almost 11 pm and none of us had eaten and we had to physically get up from our seat to go and find someone that would serve us these items. They came in with the bread and the wine but then proceeded to leave without opening up the bottles of wine???? We got no apologies from this waitress (which from the previous reviews it seems it is the owners wife because she had this 'oh well attitude about everything) and she even joked when she came back that now that we had our bread and our wine everything should be fine!!..Um no......So then they proceeded to run out of one of the main courses but not until 4 of our guests had already ordered it and she said that the other people that had ordered it would have to choose something else....This happened with the dessert as well and she once again picked the people that would be getting the apple crisp instead of letting our group decide amongst themselves. By the end they were basically throwing extra desserts at us in perhaps a feable attempt to make up for the horrible service that they knew they had provided for us...WORST SERVICE EVER in my entire life. I will never go back there. The food was mediocre at best but is not worth your time , money and frustration. DON'T GO! I would rather have had a Mcdonald's candlelight dinner then go to Rocco's ever again.
Amazing food. Long service wait times...but, in this case, worth it!
My husband and I have frequented this restaurant for several years. Although we miss the views of Lake Banook with the change of venue, the decor of the new location is excellent, and the food is consistently well-prepared and presented. We do miss our former regular waitress service can be slower now than it was. As well, it is unfortunate that one has to pass a very smoky bar to get to the restaurant entrance, and the calibre of the restaurant exceeds the level of the hotel clientele in which it is located, which may cost the restaurant some business - this hotel clientele would neither look for nor afford fine dining.
This restaurent is on par with the best. The service is top notch and so is the food.
